“Scenic Route”

“Scenic Route” came from a wide variety of influences. It’s an upbeat rock fusion tune that takes a lot of twists and turns, much like the scenic route itself. I wanted the changes in mood to reflect the bumps and unexpected turns you can experience along the way, while ending with a more uplifting, celebratory feeling. I was influenced by guitarists Ron Komie and Michael Dowdle when writing this piece, and the original riff actually came from an idea I wrote in high school that I later revisited and developed into “Scenic Route.”

“Nostaliga”

“Nostalgia” came from living with my close friend Isaad Helgestad, who I met while attending Berklee College of Music. We quickly discovered our shared love for jazz fusion and realized that our guitar styles complemented each other really well. That connection grew into a musical partnership, and we now co-write smooth jazz fusion music together. This was the first song we wrote as a duo, and we even sing on it! “Nostalgia” was a finalist in the jazz category of the 2024 USA Songwriting Competition, and we’re currently working on an album together.

“Almost Country”

“Almost Country” came from living in Nashville and being surrounded by friends who are incredible country players. I had never really played country guitar before, so I decided to give it a shot and put my own spin on the style. The result is a fast-paced track that blends fusion elements with a classic country twang. The main riff actually started as a Tim Miller 212 technique warmup before I decided to develop it into a full song.

What I’m Working on Now

I’m currently working with my close friend and musical collaborator Isaac Helgestad on a full-length jazz fusion album. We’re bringing our two-guitar styles together to create something that blends our shared love for fusion with our own individual sounds. We’re excited to share it soon, so stay tuned for the release!
